How to Wear a White Shirt Three Ways

Ladies I'm extremely excited to be posting my first blog of 2018!!! I have been so eager to get back working on my blog. Over the Christmas break I decided that once a week I will focus a post on a specific item of clothing and how to wear it three ways. One of the key aims of my Styling business is to encourage women to wear their wardrobes more. Getting lots of wear from your clothes gives you the rewarding knowledge that you are
(a) getting value for your money
(b) helping slow down the issues that fast fashion is creating
(c) finding your style and falling in love with you.

So Lets start feeling good in our clothes and get creative with how we wear our clothes. For my first 'How To Wear Three Ways' post I have chosen a crisp white shirt. I feel it kind of symbolises the clean fresh start that 2018 has brought. I adore this shirt from Carraig Donn, it has a nice neat collar and fabulous statement sleeves. The lack of pockets on this shirt means that it offers a smooth silhouette for layering under jumpers, dresses etc..

For my first way to style a white shirt, I have selected a tailored dress. Grey looks so fresh with white and of course any colour is going to match white. Don't be afraid to have a mini dress up at home and play around with what's already in your wardrobe. Trying tops/shirts underneath dresses, tops, jumpers. Why not try tops over dresses too, it can instantly turn a dress into a new skirt!

My favourite boots at the moment are my black sock boots, I've been wearing mine with jeans, skirts, trousers and dresses. So I found this gorgeous pair to team with the shirt and dress combo. To be honest it was the striking silver heels that caught my eye on these beauties!

For my second way to wear the white shirt I couldn't resist this easy wear waistcoat. It's a fun way of adding tailoring to your wardrobe without looking like you're heading straight to the boardroom. It's a really good length and you'll have loads of fun teaming it up with dresses and blouses that are already hanging in your wardrobe.

For my third look I went online with the idea of a short sleeve round neck jumper....disappointingly any of the short sleeve styles had high necks but I didn't want to cover up the collar on the shirt. I think as we enter the new Spring Season we will see more of the style I was looking for. So instead I found this luxe poncho on Dunnes Stores. It's a terrific cover-up for a shirt while still showcasing the collar and the statement sleeves.

Hope you're feeling inspired by my styling ideas for your white shirt. There are lots of styles of white shirts out there - just remember when you are choosing yours to look for one that fits well. An ill fitting shirt won't offer you versatility for wearing underneath dresses. Always try on before purchasing and if you are shopping online make sure you are happy with it before removing labels and throwing away the packaging.

As always if there is anything you would like me to feature on my blog or if you would like to find out more about my personal styling services please contact me on laineystyle@gmail.com or 0868206850

Happy Shopping!!
