How to Accessorise One Dress Three Ways

I love nothing more, than having bought an outfit for an upcoming event, realising it's time to start accessorising it. Selecting jewellery and matching up a bag and shoes to my new outfit, is for me when the fun begins. It's most definitely a passion of mine which I've had since I was very young, a passion that I know not every lady shares. So this post is for any of my readers who have an occasion coming up and need some inspiration on how to have a little fun with accessorising your new outfit.

I stumbled upon this gorgeous navy panelled dress on ASOS last night. It's a fabulous dress, I love the structure of the bodice and top half of the skirt and then the fabric simply flows in a very feminine and glamorous tulle fabric. The dress is fun and girly at the same time being extremely glamorous and grown up. It is for me perfection. And as I'm always saying I really love navy it's so flattering on all skin tones and it's so easy to accessorise with any colour. Therefore I felt it was the perfect dress to create a few accessory looks for you to be inspired by.

LOOK ONE

For my first look I decided to stick with the colour navy. When matching accessories that are the same colour as your outfit it's always a good idea to choose different textures. The clutch I chose has beautiful lace detailing and the shoes are a gorgeous soft velvet. Having different textures will mean your accessories, although the same colour as your dress, will stand out rather than blend in. I decided to add a subtle touch of colour and sparkle with thess stunning statement earrings and embellished belt.

LOOK TWO

Look number two is all about emphasising the femininity of this tulle dress. Nothing says feminine and girly more than accessorising with pinks and pearls...very lady like, don't you think? Even the detailing on the bag and shoes are oozing feminity with the combination of bows and frills. I chose these particular pearl earrings as they give a modern and trendy twist to what is known to be a classic accessory.

LOOK THREE

For my final look I wanted to work the look around a print. Keeping in mind that the dress is quite glamorous I was mindful to chose a print that wasn't too bold, I really wanted to keep the look elegant. What I'm loving about these shoes is that they give a little nod to the fact that we are slowly transcending into the autumn season. Burgundy will feature a lot in the coming season, plus it's one of my fave hues. I kept the rest of the accessories quite simple, the clutch matches the burgundy print of the shoe perfectly. And I'm loving the navy pearl earrings, they are understated and elegant, the perfect pairing.

Trophy Jackets your Denims will Love

My week away in Clare has come to an end, feeling a little lost and slightly sad today if I'm honest. I had such a fun holiday though and my social media followers will have seen a few pics during the week of what I got up to. Because we were away with a group of close family we had an excuse to go out for drinks most nights. It's only polite to be social! With this in mind, when packing I decided to keep my outfits casual and to include a few nice pieces to throw on with my denims for when we hit the pubs. The one piece that I'm really delighted I brought with me was my Zara embellished Jacket.

Style Tip
A 'trophy jacket' like this one is designed to dress up even the simplest of tops, making you look like you've gone to loads of effort with your outfit. I believe Jackets to really be a key piece to build on in your wardrobe. Obviously you should start off building your jacket collection with good neutral pieces that will be your go to cover up for any occasion. But then, once you have the basics, you can start to add fun statement styles to your wardrobe. So today I set myself the task of finding my readers some wow 'trophy jackets'. Ladies your denims are gonna love these!!!

How to add Glam to your Casuals

We spend so much time in our casual clothes that I thought I would dedicate today's post to them. I began thinking about my style and how I like to dress on an ordinary day and I realised that I love even my casuals to have a touch of glam about them. A great tip for achieving this is to always buy for the details and to purchase an item because you love it. Loving your clothes means they'll love you right back. They'll make sure you always look good because you'll feel good in them and that will radiate from the inside out...trust me!! So here are the details you need to look for to glam up your casuals.......

Detail 1 - Frills

Delivery of new season stock is well underway in all shops (including our Fashion Store at the Arboretum!) and you'll notice the transition from summery tops to gorgeous light knits. I think they are the perfect buy at the moment! Check out this fabulous knit which I bought today in River Island. Warning....You really need to like frills to wear this top!!! I'm thrilled with my purchase and better yet I had a gift voucher which my wonderful Mother-in-law gave me for my birthday......free clothes Yippee!!!!!

Sticking with my obsession for frills my next pick is this brilliant piece from Noisy May @ the Arboretum's Fashion Store. This top only arrived last week and if you follow me on social media you'll have already seen me rave about it. Navy is my fave neutral - seriously - I'm preferring it to black right now.

Detail 2 - Pearls

Embellished and embroidered jeans and trousers can be found in every highstreet shop. Personally I prefer the embellished over the embroidered and when I spotted this pair in RI today I had to include it in my glam casuals. They are also available in RI's Plus range.

Some more pearl details on this next top. This one is from Zara and it's quite a simple top but it has one standout detail, fabulous pearl fringing on the sleeves. Pearls never go out of style and I really like that the strings of pearls used are different sizes. This top is also available in white.

Detail 3 - Fringing

Again if you follow me on social media I shared this next top with you last week also. I spotted it in Zara in Blanchardstown, raging with myself now that I didn't try it on, but I just didn't need the temptation. I love the colour and of course the gorgeous fringe detailing. The fringing has been done really well on this top, I like the placement of it plus I'm liking that it's on the back of the top also.

Detail 4 - Embellishment

I have to be honest here, I don't own a hoody. However, when I stumbled upon this one online I think, if I was to do hoodies, this would be what they would look like. The fact that it is a knit rather than a sweat attracts me and obviously the divine embellishment hugely adds to its attraction. This hoody is also available in Navy or Black.

I love my heels but I'm slowly falling for flat comfies but it goes without saying they have to have a splash of glam! At the moment I'm living in the embellished sneakers I bought in Aldo earlier this month (I have featured them here
Check out his satin pair from Zara.....how pretty are they? Now these would most definitely add the glam factor to a simple top and jeans on your day off.

Detail 5 - Lace

Lace is such a lovely detail on tops, it instantly adds a touch of glamour and elegance. You can't get more casual than a cotton tee, and you'll have to agree having the lace detail turns it from casual to glam instantly but you still have that relaxed comfy fee. This top is also available in grey with black lace

My 6 Tips on How to slim your Tummy

Happy Saturday everyone!! I'm having a lovely lazy day, literally only got dressed at lunchtime! But isn't that what Saturday's off are for? My eldest son Dylan is home for the weekend (yippee!). I adore having both of my Sons together, so we're just hanging around for the day catching up with Dylan. We did manage to fit in a quick cuppa at my parents house.

Today's post is all about giving you lots of tips on how to slim your tummy. Our Tummy's are one of the main areas we all have issues with (whether it's warranted or not). Firstly you need to know that to slim an area of your body you must give it no attention and instead draw attention to other areas of your body. In order to ignore our tummy's we must avoid any detailing around the tummy area such as embellishments, buckles, bows and so on. Then draw attention to the parts of your body that you love and this is how.........

Tummy Tuck, Tip 1

Adding volume to your upper half, has a slimming effect on your tummy, hips and bum. This season it has never been easier to find tops that boast sleeves with volume. It is such a big trend right now and I'm delighted that it will continue through Autumn Winter. The volume on the sleeves broadens your shoulder making your tummy and waist look slimmer. It also draws attention away from your tummy area.

Tummy Tuck, Tip 2

Have you been checking out all the new arrivals in store and online? The cape detail on tops and dresses seems to be everywhere and I'm loving it. Similar to the previous top with voluminous sleeves, the cape detail also adds volume, thus slimming your tum and drawing the eye of the onlooker to your fabulous cape feature.

Tummy Tuck, Tip 3

Guys I'm delighted to tell you that the kimono is still popping up everywhere. Kimono's are brilliant for adding glamour, adding a pop of colour, or adding a fabulous print to a simple dress or a plain top and jeans combo. But how does it slim your tummy? Wearing a long-line kimono or jacket open, draws the eye downwards creating a slimming effect. Remember to choose a style that goes past your hips. There are some styles out there that stop just past your waist and this won't have the same effect.

Tummy Tuck, Tip 4

Next up is a dressy bardot top. The off the shoulder detail is very trendy at the moment so you will have no problem finding lots of options. The idea here is that the attention is drawn to your shoulders with the flash of skin. Your decolletage is a very sexy part of the body that can be forgotten about, show it off ladies! Many of the bardot tops available come without straps, but personally I find them uncomfortable to wear. The simple skinny strap on this top makes it much more comfy, there'll be no issues with the top popping up over your shoulders or worse yet sliding down too far. I'm really loving all the detail on this top; the long sleeves with statement cuffs, the obvious off the shoulder detail, the gorgeous tie detail and the glamorous silky fabric.

Tummy Tuck, Tip 5

Ladies the wrap dress is the friend of anyone with tummy and/or big boob issues. It cuts across these problem areas and draws the eye downwards. The frill is a lovely detail on this particular dress keeping the onlookers eye on your upper half and away from your tummy. The skirt is slightly full and falls naturally over your hips. Another little detail that doesn't get enough credit is the width of our straps. The straps on this dress are wide and this has a well received slimming effect on boobs and tummies.

Tummy Tuck, Tip 6

When it comes to selecting flattering skirts the A-Line silhouette is your best friend!! Avoid pencil skirts. The A-line shape gradually gets wider and brings balance to your tummy.  Also you can look for this feature on dresses. The skirt I have selected not only has the A-Line shape, it also boasts a statement pleat detail which will catch peoples eyes and particularly works well if you want your legs to get some attention.
