Day-time Dressing

Girls for some reason I have slowly stopped wearing casual dresses during the day. On my days off I tend to always choose jeans to wear. The thing is I'm not sure why that is, maybe it's just a habit I have fallen into. Of course if I'm going out for dinner or drinks then I definitely still gravitate to my dresses. The thing is I adore dresses!!! So I've decided to make a conscious effort to re-kindle my love for wearing them. Plus the winter season is the perfect season for getting back into dresses. I adore the cosyness of layering warm tights and boots with a long sleeve dress and of course you always feel that little bit more dressed up even in the most casual of dresses. So today's post is all about my finds online that tick the following boxes;

1. Long sleeves - I don't like being cold and find in the winter a long sleeve gives you that extra bit of warmth and with most casual dresses you can add a layer underneath if needed

2. Versatile - allowing me to dress it up or down depending on the occasion

3. Statement or attractive detailing - when I buy clothes I like an item to have something different or attractive, something that I fall in love with

4. Fun to accessorise - I love my accessories so a dress that I know I can add pops of colour to or style in different ways is key

5. Match my wardrobe - for me the most important thing about a purchase is that it will match with at least 3 items in my wardrobe helping me wear my wardrobe more

First up is an embroidered black dress from Zara. Embroidery is huge and I really like how it's been done on this dress. The colours are stunning offering you lots of choices when it comes to matching boots, jewellery, cardigans or coats. I have a short teal cardigan that would work perfect with this dress and my long cream cardigan would be fab with it also. I have khaki ankle boots that I live in and of course some black ones.

My second find is an animal print dress from Oasis, I'm not always fond of animal prints but I'm really attracted to this one as I feel it's kind of subtle. The skater style is just so easy and comfy to wear and the 3/4 length sleeve is perfect for showing off your favourite watch or a statement bracelet. I love the detail around the neckline and the versatility of layering a white shirt underneath (check out image below). I have burgundy ankle boots and burgundy heels that would be amazing with this dress. Again my fluffy white cardi would be great with this for a more casual look. Oh and this dress comes in a longer version also, I love that about Oasis, they regularly have dresses that come in a short length and a longer length. However I find we can all get away with wearing dresses a little shorter in the winter with the help of high denier tights.

My next find boasts a gorgeous floral print, the colours in this dress are amazing it's got all of this seasons hot hues covered (red, green, mustard, burgundy). I love the sheer sleeve and the v-neck which I don't normally wear but it's not a very low cut one. The dress looks like it would be so comfortable to wear, floaty skirt and loosely tied in at the waist. I have a red blazer which would look fantastic with this dress and then I would keep everything else black. And if I was to dress this up for a dinner date I would definitely team with my red heels and keep accessories simple.

My fourth and final find is a shirt dress from River Island. I've said it before and I'll say it again I love a shirt dress. What caught my eye about this dress is the layered detail on the skirt, it just makes it that little bit different than other shirt dresses. Of course the gorgeous lace shoulder detail combined with the subtle frill is also a winner. I would definitely try wearing this with a pair of burgundy tights and black ankle boots.

Styling Tip
It's a great feeling when you pick up something new and you can't wait to get it home to wear with pieces you already have in your wardrobe. It means you're wearing what you already have more. Most importantly it means that your new purchase isn't going to cost you more money by having to buy something to wear with it.

A Wearable Statement Piece

I'm having a lovely relaxing Sunday off and I hope you are too! This morning I treated myself to a lie-in until 10.30, that's always a good start to a day off. Last night I went for delicious tapas and cocktails with my Sister and a friend and it was just so nice to come home and not have to set an alarm. Before lunch I went for a 5k walk along the barrow track, it's such a beautiful walk one of my favourites. Since then I have made pancakes for everyone for lunch and I now have a berry drizzle cake in the oven for after our dinner. Hubby is in charge of dinner so I'm chilling for the rest of the day. And I thought I'd post a quick blog post while I have my feet up, I actually started this one over a week ago....ooops!

I really do love finding pieces for my wardrobe that are different and that offer various styling options. When I came across this embroidered tulle dress on Zara I knew I had to blog about it. For me it is the perfect statement piece if you're looking for something new for a night out. What I love about it is that I could I also see myself wearing it more casually for a daytime occasion when you want to dress up your denims. Mustard is such a hot colour for Autumn/Winter and I really like that this dress is a more muted shade of mustard than what we imagine when we think of the colour. Zara have actually labelled this colour 'curry'.....I think curry kinda puts you off so we'll just call it muted mustard what do you think?

The embellished neckline is just divine, earrings and a ring are all the accessories that are needed. And I do like a long sleeve every now and then!

Three Stylish Ways to Wear your Denims

Denims you are adored!! I literally wear mine everyday, the only time I give them a break is for a night out or an occasion when I will tend to choose a dress. I'm confident in making the assumption that like me you also live in your denims.

The idea, when denim was created, was to come up with a fabric that was hard-wearing for working hard in....well my denims definately work hard for me (although I get the feeling it should be me working hard not my denims....nah that can't be right) The word Denim comes from Nîmes in France where they were originally made - "De Nîmes”. It sounds very chic when you say it like that "de Nîmes”....Love it!

So for today's post I thought we could give our hard working denims a little treat by giving them a well deserved make over. I have put together 3 looks for your denims that are perfect for the new autumn season.

How to Accessorise a Print

I love that we have become more adventurous when it comes to dressing for an occasion, dresses are not the only outfit you'll see us ladies donning at a wedding for example. Jumpsuits, trouser suits and skirts are almost as popular a choice for dressy events. I feel that our budget is normally the driving factor for our outfit choice.....a dress tends to work out cheaper. Choosing a skirt means the added cost of purchasing a top. But now and then you'll come across a statement skirt that doesn't break the bank and that's exactly what I've found for you for today's blog post.

The baroque print in this amazing skirt, which I found on ASOS, is stunning. What's really great about the print is the main colour is black making it easy to accessorise with items you have at home....we all have black shoes and bags.....so if you don't have a big budget for your outfit, you won't need to purchase accessories. White is also a key featured colour, which means you can create a strong summer look for now and then you can wear it again with dark accessories for an autumn or winter occasion. What's even better about the colour combo is the striking orange hue, I love it. Simply adding a pair of earrings or a clutch that has a nod to the orange hue will really make the colour pop in the skirt!

How to Accessorise One Dress Three Ways

I love nothing more, than having bought an outfit for an upcoming event, realising it's time to start accessorising it. Selecting jewellery and matching up a bag and shoes to my new outfit, is for me when the fun begins. It's most definitely a passion of mine which I've had since I was very young, a passion that I know not every lady shares. So this post is for any of my readers who have an occasion coming up and need some inspiration on how to have a little fun with accessorising your new outfit.

I stumbled upon this gorgeous navy panelled dress on ASOS last night. It's a fabulous dress, I love the structure of the bodice and top half of the skirt and then the fabric simply flows in a very feminine and glamorous tulle fabric. The dress is fun and girly at the same time being extremely glamorous and grown up. It is for me perfection. And as I'm always saying I really love navy it's so flattering on all skin tones and it's so easy to accessorise with any colour. Therefore I felt it was the perfect dress to create a few accessory looks for you to be inspired by.

Trophy Jackets your Denims will Love

My week away in Clare has come to an end, feeling a little lost and slightly sad today if I'm honest. I had such a fun holiday though and my social media followers will have seen a few pics during the week of what I got up to. Because we were away with a group of close family we had an excuse to go out for drinks most nights. It's only polite to be social! With this in mind, when packing I decided to keep my outfits casual and to include a few nice pieces to throw on with my denims for when we hit the pubs. The one piece that I'm really delighted I brought with me was my Zara embellished Jacket.

How to add Glam to your Casuals

We spend so much time in our casual clothes that I thought I would dedicate today's post to them. I began thinking about my style and how I like to dress on an ordinary day and I realised that I love even my casuals to have a touch of glam about them. A great tip for achieving this is to always buy for the details and to purchase an item because you love it. Loving your clothes means they'll love you right back. They'll make sure you always look good because you'll feel good in them and that will radiate from the inside out...trust me!! So here are the details you need to look for to glam up your casuals.......

Detail 1 - Frills

Delivery of new season stock is well underway in all shops (including our Fashion Store at the Arboretum!) and you'll notice the transition from summery tops to gorgeous light knits. I think they are the perfect buy at the moment! Check out this fabulous knit which I bought today in River Island. Warning....You really need to like frills to wear this top!!! I'm thrilled with my purchase and better yet I had a gift voucher which my wonderful Mother-in-law gave me for my birthday......free clothes Yippee!!!!!

My 6 Tips on How to slim your Tummy

Happy Saturday everyone!! I'm having a lovely lazy day, literally only got dressed at lunchtime! But isn't that what Saturday's off are for? My eldest son Dylan is home for the weekend (yippee!). I adore having both of my Sons together, so we're just hanging around for the day catching up with Dylan. We did manage to fit in a quick cuppa at my parents house.

Today's post is all about giving you lots of tips on how to slim your tummy. Our Tummy's are one of the main areas we all have issues with (whether it's warranted or not). Firstly you need to know that to slim an area of your body you must give it no attention and instead draw attention to other areas of your body. In order to ignore our tummy's we must avoid any detailing around the tummy area such as embellishments, buckles, bows and so on. Then draw attention to the parts of your body that you love and this is how.........

Tummy Tuck, Tip 1

Adding volume to your upper half, has a slimming effect on your tummy, hips and bum. This season it has never been easier to find tops that boast sleeves with volume. It is such a big trend right now and I'm delighted that it will continue through Autumn Winter. The volume on the sleeves broadens your shoulder making your tummy and waist look slimmer. It also draws attention away from your tummy area.

How to Accessorise a Blue Dress

So this morning I was checking out new arrivals on some of my favourite online shops and spotted this fabulous lace shift dress on Oasis. What I love most about this dress is the vibrant shade of blue, it's stunning. It is also available in black if the colour doesn't excite you as much as it does me.

The A-line shape of the skirt on this dress is one of the most flattering you can find. It has an amazing slimming effect on your tummy and boobs....now who doesn't love that. Also its just an easy and most importantly comfy shape to wear. This dress shows off a lot of leg so it's always a good idea to be more demure on top. The lace detail top is perfect and is a really gorgeous feature, the sheer neckline means we're covered up but still showing some skin. Of the course the sleeves are another feature that we all love, the length of these are great.

Shop the Summer Sales

Girls the sales are in full swing right now and there are lots and lots of bargains to be had. So today I've decided to hit the online shops and put together my must have bargains for all my lovely readers.

A Girl Can never have too many Jackets

My first bargain find is a collarless jacket. What I love about this jacket is the blush hue. If you look around any of the shops that have received deliveries of new season stock, there are a lot of blush tones. But these new arrivals are obviously at full price however my find is half price! Who doesn't love a bargain.

How to Celebrate your 40th Birthday

Well ladies the day finally arrived last week, I am now in my 40's......actually that makes it sound even worse....scratch that, I am now 40. And as my youngest son wrote on my card, 'Enjoy being forty, it won't be long until you're 50'.....he's a cheeky chap. My eldest son picked a card that said 'Age is mind over matter....if you don't mind it doesn't matter' I think that is just so true.

I think a lot of people struggle with trying to decide How to celebrate a big birthday so I thought I'd share with you how I celebrated my 40th. Last week I went on a shopping spree to Dublin with Hubby and he bought me lots of treats. Many of the things I bought I packed for my two night break away in Barberstown Castle where I celebrated my big day in style. It was lovely having new bits to wear, I always feel great in myself when I'm wearing something new and something that I love.

New Shoes to Build your Capsule Wardrobe

Shoes have the ability to control what you can wear every time you browse through your wardrobe. Your shoes (or lack of the right shoes) are the big decision makers!! They finish off your look, they can make or they can break your look. Shoes have the ultimate power of deciding if an outfit will be casual or smart. So I guess what I'm saying is Shoes deserve Attention.

I have put together my Must have shoes to help you build your Capsule Wardrobe. Your capsule shoe collection should all be in neutral colours. This gives you the option of styling them with any colour. Once you have your capsule pieces in neutral colours you can then build on your shoe collection with colours, prints and on-trend details and even have some fun!

The Shirt Dress, How to Wear it Three Ways

The shirt dress is such a versatile piece to have in your wardrobe and versatile pieces are exactly what every wardrobe needs. I love wearing items in my wardrobe in different ways and creating different looks from my clothes. As I'm always saying, if you are splashing out on something new make sure that you have at least three items in your wardrobe that you can wear it with. Be excited about your new purchase and enjoy trying out different looks!

The shirt dress is easy to wear and extremely flattering on all body shapes. Your waist can be easily defined by adding a belt (if it doesn't already come with one). The shape of the shirt dress will fall over your tummy and hips. You can wear it buttoned right up to the collar, you can add a nice neckpiece if you wish to dress it up. For a different look (or if you are heavier on top) leave some of the buttons open.

5 Ways to Wear Red

Red is a strong colour this season, but then I always find red to be a great summer colour. It works brilliantly with navy's and whites, and is terrific for adding a burst of colour to your favourite neutral pieces. I feel red is a colour that you won't tire of and you'll be content to keep in your wardrobe for years to come, unlike some of the other trending colours at the moment like yellow. Today I have put together my 5 must-have Red Pieces to add to your wardrobe.

No 1. The Statement Coat

I love a statement coat!! If you've been hanging around the house in a simple jeans and top and need to pop out somewhere, throwing on a statement coat instantly makes you look like you've gone to huge effort. I'm not one for saving things for 'good wear'. First I like to get an occasion out of something new and then I like to mix it in with my casual wardrobe, getting lots of wear out of every piece I own and getting value for money.

My Top 6 Summer Dresses

It's another gloriously sunny day here in Carlow. The heat is so intense I have to keep coming in out of it, we're just not used to it. Absolutely loving it though, everyone is in such good form! Plus I'm loving listening to the little girl next door splashing in the paddling pool with her friend, they're full of giggles and excitement. It's a long time since I filled a padding pool for mine. My two are 22 and 15 but I did get to fill the bath for my youngest this morning. One day soon, that'll stop too. A huge part of me wants to pause the clock and rewind but a bigger part of me is enjoying watching my boys grow into men that I'm beyond proud of.

Got a little side tracked there (kids will do that to you) Anywho, today I've just been hanging around the house trying to enjoy some sunshine, as I was working the last two days. I pulled out a sundress that I bought in Penneys I think 2 years ago. We all have summer pieces that we pull out every summer and are filed under the category 'just for wearing in the garden'. Well this dress is one of those.

How to wear florals if you're not a girly girl

Who said you can't get your blossom on if you're not a girly girl? Floral prints have really bloomed this summer, making it hard not to add some flowers to your style. Florals don't have to mean pretty and girly, you can still have an edgy attitude to your style while delving into the floral madness.

The easiest way to pick a bloom that's not going to look like you're off to an afternoon tea party, is to go for a dark colour. Surprisingly enough there seems to be a huge choice of black florals at the moment. I decided I'd tempt you with a khaki coloured dress instead, really liking khaki right now. I'm wearing my River Island khaki boots to death!!

How to add warm layers to your Summer Style

Hello there lovelies!! Last week I featured a post on some cheap and cheerful tops to top-up your wardrobe (you can read said post here). It got me thinking, it's great picking up a few new tops but when it comes to wearing them casually everyday we need to have layers to match. I love looking at other bloggers outfit posts on instagram, everything looks so summery and fresh but in reality we need a few neutral warm layers to add to these looks. And that's what this post is going to be all about, adding warm layers to your Summer Style.

You are going to love my first find as it's very similar to one of my fave jackets. I bought a pink cord Kookai jacket, I think about 12/13 years ago....really!! I wore it regularly at the time but I have to admit it then went to the back of my wardrobe for a number of years. I'm so glad I didn't throw it out, I was putting together a couple of looks to wear to Castlepalooza festival 2016, I tried it on and fell in love with it all over again. Through back to me wearing my jacket at the festival....

Saturday Night Styling, How to wear Navy

Hope you're all having a lovely and relaxing Saturday. I'm taking it easy today as I was out last night at a gig in Carpe Diem, Carlow. My brother-in-laws band were playing and they were unreal. Nothing beats live music on a night out, it's always guaranteed to be a brilliant night. Carlow Arts Festival is on this weekend so I'm hoping, if I can stay awake, to go to an acrobatic outdoor show with fireworks tonight. After this post I'll need to to plan a warm layered outfit to wear.

Last night I wore a navy dress that I have about 4 years and I love it just as much now as I did when I bought it in A|wear all those years ago. It got me thinking about the neutral colour navy. I really don't think navy gets enough credit. Personally I love encouraging people to wear navy. This classic hue is one of the best neutrals, it's up there with black. Navy is softer on our skin tone than black and simply has an elegant timeless quality. I really don't believe I'll ever tire of this dress.

Top-Up your wardrobe from just €13.50

Ladies what do we wear most often? For me, without question, it most definitely is jeans and a top. I bet you're the same? Your upper half gets noticed the most and your tops are what people remember you wearing. So it goes with out saying we can never have enough tops. Plus the easiest and most cost effective way to give yourself a new look or a little mood enhancer is to treat yourself to a new top.  Don't worry though, this does not have to cost you a bomb. I found two prime examples this morning in my local Next store.

Wednesday's What's the Occasion......a day at the beach

I'm sitting here at my dining table (my usual blogging spot) looking out at the rain, wearing a woolly jumper, jeans and cozy socks. All I can think about is what would I wear if; a) it was sunny and b) I was heading off to the beach. So I'm having fun browsing sites and putting together what I personally would love to wear for a day by the sea. No matter what I find on my search, I know I won't be buying, as my wallet says I can't buy any of these finds and the weather is clearly saying don't bother. My bank balance is safe, for now!

Saturday Night Styling.......Perfect Florals

There seems to be a theme to my recent blog posts - Florals - they just can't be ignored at this time of the year (well I clearly can't seem to ignore them). I hadn't planned on blogging about florals again today. My email was starting to overflow and I began deleting some when I came across an email from Oasis. They have a new print collection inspired by the iconic porcelain from the Museum of Royal Worcester and guys it is so beautiful and ever so dreamy. Anyone who follows me on instagram will know how I adore my floral teapots and teacups. So it goes without saying that a clothing collection that reflects the prints of iconic tea-sets is going to get my full attention!!

Oasis have made a gorgeous video showing prints pouring from teapots....I love it. Go on have a watch it's worth it https://youtu.be/wIMSG2zUAC8

I have chosen a dress from this tea-party collection for my Saturday Night Styling look. Below I have also shared pics of my other fave pieces from this collection.

Wednesday's What's The Occasion....Ditch the Dress for a Dinner Date

This week my 'What's the Occasion' is an outfit inspiration post for a dinner date. At the weekend I shared pics of the outfit I wore for dinner with my hubby. I had dug out a pair of white floral shorts and I got a great reaction from them (see my post here). I felt inspired to write another post on florals, but this time some trouser options for those that would prefer not to have their legs on show like I had. So ladies lets ditch the dress for a dinner date and cover our legs in some summery blossoms.

I have found you two trouser options. I have purposely chosen to ignore the skinny leg trouser for this post. There are so many leg shape options in shops at the moment, making it an easy task to look beyond the norm of the skinnies.... instead look to straight legs, palazzo, cigarette etc. First up let me tempt you with a straight cut trouser featuring a cropped leg. I think you're going to love the frill detailing around the pockets and the hem...it's all in the detail ladies!

Saturday Night Styling.....Floral Shorts

Last night I went to our local Tapas bar, Mimosa, with the hubby. I decided to wear a pair of Zara shorts that I had bought 2 years ago for a trip to Italy. When I think about it, I actually don't believe I have worn them since. I'm a jeans or a dress kinda girl but when we're on holidays we can be someone different. The sun was shining yesterday afternoon when I was choosing what to wear (and had been all week) and it really felt like we were on holidays, the air felt different and maybe that's what inspired me to slip into my Zara shorts once again.

Wedding Guest Outfit Inspiration

It's a fabulous day today in Carlow, the sun is so warm and the sky is blue. Today is 'Wednesday's What's the Occasion' and I thought as wedding season is in full swing I would put together another Wedding Guest Outfit look.

Don't you just love when you find a dress for an occasion that you know you will wear again even if it's just for a 'non occasion' night out. I simply love adding clothes to my wardrobe that aren't going to just sit there, they will be worn more than once in fact they will be worn until we fall out of love.

Saturday Night Styling....The Little Black Dress

It's Saturday and I'm wishing that I was planning an outfit for a Saturday night out. Instead I'm currently sitting at my dining room table blogging while nursing a hangover. Why my head is banging so badly is beyond me as it was only four drinks (a cosmo and three glasses of red). So now I'm doing my best not to listen to that little voice whispering 'is it because you're turning 40 soon? maybe you're just getting old'. Thankfully there's a louder more sensible voice saying age means absolutely nothing. To be perfectly honest the older I get the more I'm enjoying and appreciating life so bring it on.

For those of us, who ARE heading out tonight I have put together a little outfit inspiration.

It's been a while since I've splurged on an LBD, such a handy piece to have in your wardrobe.  We always feel confident in our fave black dress plus it is so easy to accessorise especially if you are in a hurry to go to a last minute night out. Loving the detail in this black dress below; pockets (we all love pockets), belt to define your waist, the stunning neck tie and the sexy split. It kinda sounds like there is a lot going on, but it works! This classy little black number is from River Island and is also available to purchase on Littlewoods Ireland allowing you to spread the cost or put payment off til payday!

Occasion Outfit Inspiration

Ladies we always have some kind of occasion to look forward to in the near future, personally I have a big birthday in July and also a family wedding. I've no funds this week to purchase an outfit for either occasion, but guys you know me I love browsing for outfit inspiration and putting together looks funds or no funds. Check out this floral midi dress from ASOS I'm loving the floral print and the gorgeous colour combinations. The subtle frill detail around the waist and the neckline is a really pretty feature and we're all loving frills this season.

The open back is very daring but hey it's summer and there's no fun in playing it safe all of the time. To compensate the sexy back the length of the dress is very ladylike and the high neckline very demure, and that's the key to ensuring you look classy is to not over do the skin we have on show.

Red Jumpsuit Outfit Inspiration

Seeing Red? You too? We are seeing the colour red everywhere, it's been a winning colour this summer (literally) Carlow's well know fashionista and milliner Faith Amond dressed in a combination of red and pink bagged herself the crowning glory of Best Dressed at Aintree 2017. Red was obviously catching the eye of the judges that day as two of Faith's competition were also wearing red!

Jumpsuits are most definitely having a moment this summer, I watched Imelda May on The Graham Norton show last Friday night wearing a 'stop you in your tracks' jumpsuit which I just loved on her. So I decided for this outfit post that I would combine the two and feature a stunning red jumpsuit.

The below red jumpsuit from ASOS caught my eye immediately because it's quiet a simple style but has divine detailing on the shoulder. We all love finding pieces that are classic but with a little personality. The price point is also at winner at €49.95

What Women Want......Occasional Dresses with Sleeves

If there's only thing I've learned from working in the fashion industry it's that women want sleeves!!! So why if we all love, want, need sleeves is it one of the hardest things to find in a dress?? Just because it's summer and the temperatures are higher does not change the fact that the majority of women hate their upper arms. Hiding our bingo wings isn't the only reason we want sleeves, for an occasion ladies find that if the dress is sleeveless then a cover-up is essential, meaning an extra purchase and extra hassle trying to find wraps, jackets, cardies to suit. The sleeve is what many of us look for especially for occasional dresses and I have found some very temptingly gorgeous dresses with the infamous sleeve.

The Cold Shoulder Two Ways

This tops vibrant blue hue is stunning, with a floral print that's just as beautiful. How gorgeous does this top look with the white jeans in the images below? Plus what's not to like about a top that will stun on a night out, dress you up for a daytime event and showcase your tan on your holliers? The Top is just €35 and is available in sizes 8 to 24. And I haven't even mentioned yet the delicious cold shoulder detail that we are literally seeing everywhere and I really love this detail on the frill top. I also like that the top is a nice length giving us a little extra comfort and concealment around the tummy area. Perfection!

The White Dress Two Ways

Woohoo the sun is shining plus it's warm!!! This must mean it's time to pop on a sunshine loving white summery dress. I often say this but nothing looks fresher than white on a sunny day. I found this gorgeous lacy detail shift dress on New Look! I just love the simplicity of the shape which is such a flattering silhouette. While being a simple shape this dress boasts stunning detail and will most definitely be a white dress that will remain in your wardrobe for years, you'll pull it back out again and again.

Relax and Unwind at Doolin Hotel

Guys I'm literally just in the door from a fabulous night away in Doolin, Co. Clare. Oh my god we had such a relaxing and fun time. I loved the hotel we stayed in so much that I had to share it on my blog straight away. This wasn't my first time in Doolin, I was there for a night last year when we stayed in a lovely hostel. While walking to a local pub we noticed a wedding party going into the only hotel in Doolin and I thought if someone chooses this hotel for their wedding venue, then there must be something special about the place. So for yesterdays trip to Doolin I decided to try out Hotel Doolin, it cost €140 for a double room including breakfast. From the outside the Hotel doesn't look like much, the exterior gives nothing away about the stunning interior. The lady on reception was lovely and showed us up to our room. When she opened the door for us and I walked in I was taken a back and really pleasantly surprised by the room decor....it's not often that happens when I enter a hotel room. The majority of hotel rooms look very similar and are styled in bland hues with no character, this room was completely different, it was bright and quirky and the attention to detail made it stand out for all the right reasons. I always find when the room I'm staying in is clean, spacious and cheery I instantly unwind and am guaranteed a relaxing stay.

How to wear Gingham

The weekend is on its way so I have put together an outfit inspiration post while we await its arrival. The Gingham trend sprang to mind for this look, and when we think of this checkered print we immediately think of adding a gingham top or gingham dress to our shopping baskets, whereas I think channeling this trend through accessories is a far more fun idea and I love what I have found and hope you do too.

My Top 4 Jumpsuits

This post was inspired by a friend/colleague, she was looking for a jumpsuit in a block colour and really loves the colour jade green. Before I even began my search online a curvy model (Louise O'Reilly of stylemecurvy) that I follow happened to pop up on my instafeed wearing a stunning green cropped style that stopped me in my tracks. Isn't it just fab? It's available in dark green (as shown below) or Navy. It's exactly what she was looking for. The cold shoulder detail is so hot right now and adds a nice flash of skin. And of course the cropped leg is super trendy and great for showing off your Saturday night heels.

Top Details

Adoring this top from Zara, I see it as a very wearable piece to add to your wardrobe - ideal for a dinner date, work wear (for those not confined to a uniform like me....so jealous), drinks nite and great with jeans for your more casual outings. Play around with the belt, tie it to front, over to one side or swing it round and tie it on the back. You could also remove the belt and add one of your own, add a tan style to dress it down or add a punch of colour with a zesty lemon shade. The detailing on this top are just fab too, it boasts the ever so trendy ruffle detail, a waist cinching belt to show off your curves or create them if needed, the print is so refreshing and it has the added benefit of featuring black which means it will match all the existing black pieces in our wardrobes. And who doesn't love a top that only costs €29.95??

How to wear the Parka Jacket

The khaki military jacket, an eternal favourite of all fashionistas and this season you can give it a fresh look by simply teaming it with brilliant white. I love the simplistic yet utterly stylish examples below of how to pull off this look with the help of Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo.....

How to DRESS for a Wedding

There's nothing I love more than planning an outfit for a wedding. It is however an expensive invite to receive, there's the wedding gift, a day of drinking and before all that of course comes the cost of your outfit. With this in mind I went on the hunt for a purse friendly dress that will get you noticed for all the right reasons.

Cold Feet

Footwear at this time of the year can be a tricky one. There are days when the sun is shining and it looks so much like Summer and I think to myself it's the perfect time to show off a new season top or jacket. However, there's one thing holding me back and that's the thought of cold feet.....I cannot deal with having cold toes and someday's (like today) it's just too beautiful out to wear my winter footwear. So I went looking for some footwear inspiration for any of my readers having the same problem. Below are some gorgeous shoe choices that will keep your toes underwraps for a little while longer but will accessorise your new season style perfectly. During my hunt I ended up treating myself to a shiny (literally) new pair of brogues (details below).....Deelighted with them.

Easter Treats

Easter always makes me think of my childhood. My Mam has a great talent for knitting and sewing and loved making jumpers and dresses for myself and my sisters. Easter promised a new outfit for Sunday mass and this outfit always (or maybe it's just how I like to remember it) felt like the start of the summer season of bright and cheerful colours. With Easter only two weeks away I have put together some inspiration for an Easter Treat....girls by no means am I suggesting this treat be a replacement for a treat of the chocolatey kind, this is most definitely additional to what the Easter bunny brings. So what's your fave? Mine is a toss up between the Floral block heel sandals and the Embroidered Jacket....if only Mam could through them together for me (sure if you don't ask)
