Work wear dilemma

By Elaine Scully Styling

Reader Request: 'I am struggling finding a nice jacket I can wear with many different looks and also trousers that fit my still chunky thighs but smaller waist!'

>Wide leg trousers are great for concealing chunky thighs however if you are petite in height they can swamp your figure. Instead try a boot cut trouser.

>To show off a small waist make sure you choose a blazer that fastens at your waistline.

>Ensure your blazer is a perfect fit, a tailored jacket needs to be just that - tailored to your size. Buy it too big and you loose the structured shape and worse still you will look bigger than you are.

>When wearing a trouser and jacket combo to work you should add some femininity to your look by choosing tops in soft fabrics, girly prints or detailing. Why not show some skin by wearing tops that show off your decolletage.

>When building your work wardrobe it is best to select your tailored pieces in neutral colours so they will all mix and match. Make sure to add some colour to lift dull neutrals by accessorising with statement neckpieces. Once you have a few neutral pieces you can then start buying coloured or print pieces.

>A tailored blazer can even turn a more casual dress into an outfit suitable for work. So don't be afraid to play around with your clothes and mix your casuals with your work wear.
