My Top 5 Oscars Makeup Looks (and the worst!)

by Anne Hutton Makeup & Beauty, Carlow

So it's that time of year again, and all of our favourite Hollywood hotties got their glam on for the 2013 Annual Academy Awards. Most of our lovely ladies kept it simple yet elegant, while some pushed the boat out a little for a more attention-grabbing look.
Here are my top 5 favourite celeb Oscar looks (in no particular order)!

Jessica Chastain looking very old-Hollywood, with bright red lipstick, minimal eyeshadow, liquid liner along her top lash-line, and lots of lashes. In my opinion she could do with slightly more groomed looking eyebrows however!

Best actress winner Jennifer Lawrence looks soft and girlie, with subtle contouring of her cheekbones, a soft smokey eye, pink blush and nude pink glossy lips.

Jennifer emphasises her beautiful eyes with soft eyeshadow, lots of soft lashes and black liner on her upper lash-line only. Her lips are nude, soft and natural.

I just love Amanda's winged purply eyeshadow, which gives an almost feline look to her huge eyes. Her skin is dewey with subtle highlights on her cheekbones, brow bones and along the centre of her nose.

Does this woman ever age? Sandra looks amazing as always with matte skin (no shine), smokey eyes and barely there lips. She looks super-groomed!

And now a special Thumbs-Down bonus! My least favourite Oscar's Makeup Looks....

Sorry Adele! I really love you but I really don't love this look. Two words: TOO MUCH!!
Adele's beautiful eyes are simply hidden under layers of eyeshadow, thick eyeliner and gigantic false lashes. It's more Saturday night than Oscars in my opinion. Nice eyebrows though.

Oh what were you thinking Ginnifer?! And she usually looks so cute! Her eyeshadow is pretty cool I must say, but would look much better without all that black liner, the dodgy spikey false lashes, and the over-blackened eyebrows.

Buy of the week........a sprinkling of spring

By Elaine Scully Styling

As personal shopper for Fairgreen Shopping Centre Carlow I plan to find and share a stylists pick from a different store each week within the centre. Today I called into Vero Moda and discovered my first pick -their embellished collar shirt......

This versatile shirt is available in sizes Small up to Large and is priced at €29.95. For now I would layer this shirt beneath a warm layer and your go-to-denims. Or if you need a new pair how about this vintage style also from Vero Moda.....

Look 1
Boatneck knit €19.95,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_10091636_colorPattern=10091636_RAPTUREROSE&forceScope=

Vintage denims €54.95,fr_FR,pd.html?dwvar_10088488_colorPattern=10088488_PEPPERCORN&forceScope=

Then later in the season when (here's hoping) the weather warms up, team with shorts and a lightweight parka.......

Look 2
Parka €49.95,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_10086560_colorPattern=10086560_SAFARI&forceScope=

Shorts €29.95,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_10084300_colorPattern=10084300_BLACK&forceScope=

Happy Shopping!!!

Ceralip: Magic Stuff for Lips

by Anne Hutton Makeup & Beauty, Carlow

Just thought I'd share this with you!
After years of trying different lip balms, La Roche Posay Ceralip is so far the best. I've been using it for over a year now, and I use it on all of my clients for super soft lips. Lipstick also goes on and looks better on well moisturised lips :-)

I Want Candy!!.....behind the scenes of our shoot

By Elaine Scully Styling

Myself and Anne worked together on a photoshoot on Sunday - we don't have shots from the photographer yet but I am so excited with how fantastic the shoot was that I just have to share the behind the scenes pics with our readers now!

First pic is of my fabulous shades :-0 I picked up two pairs in Penneys for €1.50 each and with my creative hat on decided to glue on some sweets......not only do they look amazing, they smell delicious, I caught my 10 year old son trying to eat them ;)

as the theme for our shoot was Candy I chose lots of yummy candy coloured clothes and accessories all from A|wear

Now you know why I couldn't wait for the actual shots to share this with you. We had so much fun like kids in a candy store ;)) As soon as I have the edited images from our fantastic photographer Kath Oniszk I will share them with you too.

A big shout out to our team

Pick up a Parka

By Elaine Scully Styling

Two valuable reasons why the Parka is your must have coat when living in Ireland...........firstly we pretty much have all year round miserable weather and secondly we are watching the pennies so when we splash out on a big purchase such as outerwear we want (need) a coat that is a timeless recurring trend. The parka ticks all the boxes plus it looks effortlessly stylish with any outfit.

I have put together my fave parkas along with links making it easy for you to simply click and shop if one should happen to pull on your purse strings.

First up is a cotton parka with fur trim hood from A|wear. The draw strings at the waist allows you to create a fabulous shape and is perfect for all figures.

Khaki cotton twill parka, €80 A|wear. Available in sizes 8 to 18

Love my next choice which comes from ASOS and is available in two colours - stone with black or black with burgundy.

ASOS Gilet parka from €60.68

My third pick is slightly different from the usual parka but I adore it. Grey is a fantastic neutral colour and will look fab with practically any colour skinnies. This jacket is a bit pricier but the detailing makes it worth it and again it is a coat you will have in your wardrobe for years.

ASOS Premium parka with leather trim €175.31

Now time for my absolute favourite parka. I came across this River Island jacket on ASOS last week and since then it has been reduced to just under €90 so it's a bargain too :-) Whenever I purchase a jacket I always look for a style with a classy/glamorous feature - that way even when I'm racing to the school in my jeans and boots I always looked dressed up! For me the fitted inner coat streamlines the otherwise slouchy look of the parka and the large fur trim looks stylishly glamorous.

River Island Faux fur collar parka WAS €128.11 NOW €89.68 Available in sizes 6 to 12

Happy Parka Shopping!!!
