Get Alexa Chung's style from just €24.95

Hitting stores from March, the Alexa Chung for Vero Moda collection allows any girl to tap into the enviable style of Alexa - even on a college budget (or in my case a tight -and getting tighter- family budget). With pieces ranging from €24.95 it's destined to be a big hit this season. Once we get the weather to slip into some summer styles, each of the items below promise to make a relaxed yet strong statement, needing minimal accessorising apart from the essential shoes and bag. And for now, these pieces are easily warmed up by working a layered look through contrasting textures. My favourites from the collection are firstly the Miami shirt dress with a fabulous flamingo print and coming a sweet second is the cherry dress below, both retailing at €39.95 each.

Miami SS short dress €39.95 available in March

Rania Dorky 34 Short Dress €24.95 available in March

Gina LS Top €34.95 available in March

Cherry SS Mini Dress €39.95 available in March

What's your favourite???

The collection will be available from March and can be bought online or you can find your nearest store here

Warehouse encourages wardrobe wearing

I must admit the Warehouse press day, held in The Behan Lodge Residence in Dublin's Stephens Green, was more low-key than I was expecting. Their minimal display however, worked in a POSITIVE way, the fresh palette and each exquisite piece on show were promised complete focus and received the individual attention they deserved. There was no rushing through jam packed rails and flicking past pieces to get to the next collection or theme.

What I love about the spring/summer offerings from Warehouse is the encouragement to mix your night out clothes with your casual day outfits.......... wardrobe has always worked this way and it is a positive way to view your clothes. I've never had the budget to own a closet of clothes sectioned into 'Nights Out', 'Casual', 'Work' etc. By labelling clothes as 'good wear' you are limiting your outfit choices and will not get value for money from your clothes. Look at your clothes as individual pieces (even if you bought items to match each other) organise your wardrobe hanging your jackets with jackets, dresses with dresses, tops with tops etc...This will open your eyes and encourage your imagination to create different outfits everytime you open your wardrobe.

Getting back to the Warehouse rails, the accessories scattered throughout were stunning and these really made an impression on me. Each piece makes it's own stunning style statement and are perfect for beginning your transition into the new season.

The new Warehouse collection can be purchased online or to find a store near you click here -

Now, off you go and start wearing your wardrobe - for tips on how to re-organise your clothes email me on

Get Fruity Lips this Friday!

By Anne Hutton Makeup & Beauty, Carlow

In this dull weather, why not brighten up your smile with a splash of fruity colour? Take inspiration from your favourite fruits, and add a pop of pink, red, berry or apricot to your lips! There's a fruity colour out there to suit everyone. Choose the colour that looks best next to your skin and hair. If in doubt ask a friend or a makeup professional for help.

First, make those lips a smooth canvas for your colour...
Exfolliate your lips by brushing them in circular motions with a toothbrush and a little vaseline to soften.
Wipe clean with a tissue, and massage in a little nourishing lip balm (Vichy and La Roche Posay do excellent, and affordable lip creams and balms)

Now choose your favourite colour! Line the lips first with lipliner if you want a more dramatic look, then add lipstick with a brush, and gloss.
For a more subtle fruity hint, just dab the lipstick onto your lips with your finger and build up as much as you like. Add gloss for a lip plumping effect.
This look works great with soft blusher, and minimal foundation and eye makeup. Let your lips be the focus :)

Get the Look: Kim Kardashian Purple Smokey Eye

by Anne Hutton Makeup & Beauty, Carlow

For a sexy smouldering look this Valentine's, why not try out Kim's sultry smokey eyes at home? This look works well on most eye colours, but especially well on brown, grey and green eyes...Here's how to get the look!

1. Blend a little concealer around the eye area to brighten the peepers, and hide dark circles, then set with a little powder.
2. Dust a little nude or light nude pink eyeshadow under the browbone and into the inner corners of the eyes to make the eyes look more open.
3. With your ring finger or a flat eyeshadow brush, dab a deep purple powder shadow onto the lids, only up to the socket line.
4. Using a fluffy eyeshadow blending brush, blend along the sockets with a lighter shade of purple until both eyes looks even and well blended.
5. Line the upper and lower lash lines with black kohl pencil, and smudge with a cotton bud.
6. Line along the lower rim of the eye with black kohl (you can skip this step on smaller eyes)
7. Finish with lashings of mascara, and some falsies if you dare!

Nude glossy lips, and a light dusting of pink blusher compliment this look perfectly!

A|Wear SS12 Press Preview

A|Wear Ireland had their press preview last Thursday (2nd February). For the past few seasons it has been held in their press office, this time round saw a change of scenary by relocating to the Art Gallery of The Morrison Hotel.

Displayed in 4 sections I began my tour of A|Wears spring/summer offerings with New Nautical. This trend is perfect for wearing now and mixes easily with your warm layers. Conversational prints were splashed on macs, skinnies, blouses and shorts. Adding the colour green and diversing from nautical stripes to fun prints is key to this seasons nod to nautical.

Adore these denims!
New Nautical Cobalt Cable Sleeve Jumper €35 Printed Denim 7/8’s €35 Red Belt €12

Moving along brought me next to Soft Focus. Reflecting it's name this collection was softer in hue and structure and included many beautiful and luxurious pieces. Denim featured in this collection also, with some amazing metallic styles in gold and silver - looking forward to these hitting the stores.

I then moved along to A|Wears Exotica rail. Powerful print mixed with exotic colours offered the perfect collection to choose from when packing for your summer break away. Snake print remains a key trend this season and slipped into both A|Wears clothes and accessories, for me if choosing between leopard and python, the snake tops the scales.

Colour Couture completed my tour. As you can see below these eye popping hues guaranteed to leave a lasting impression. If building an outfit in these rainbow rays totally freaks you out then try taking one single piece (in a block colour or in a stripe) and add to your safe neutrals, instantly fast tracking your wardrobe into spring/summer 2012.

A|wear have really excited me this season with all of their collections and taking into account their affordable prices I know the season ahead will be a good one for the Irish stores and for our closets.

Instantly longer looking lashes!

A SIMPLE MAKE-UP TIP!!! To make your eyelashes look longer and fuller (without using falsies) using a soft kohl pencil (or liquid liner if you like a more dramatic look) draw some eyeliner along your upper lash line, keeping tight to the lash line (no gaps!). You can smudge this in a little with a cotton bud or eyeliner brush to soften the look or blend a wobbly line. This adds definition to the eyes without looking over made-up. - Anne Hutton Makeup & Beauty
