Eye Framing

My buy of the week is Essence Eyebrow kit

Essence eyebrow stylist set, €2.99

Your eyebrows add strength and definition to your face and frame your eyes, so they need to be well groomed. The Essence eyebrow kit will help you to create perfect eyebrows and priced at €2.99 you have no excuses. It comes in two toned colours to match the colour of your brow. It also has three different stencils to help you get that perfectly shaped brow. Simply apply the powder with the slanted brush using short feathery strokes working from the inner corner outwards. Don’t go over board or the results won't look natural.

Essence is available in pharmacies and Department Stores such as Penneys, Dunnes and Heatons nationwide. For a list of local stockists call +353(0)14507771 www.facebook.com/EssenceMakeUpIreland

Trend Spotter

Polka dot, spots, dots, whatever you wish to call them, this is the print that will get you noticed this Autumn, with designers such as Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs showing us how amazing it can look.

Marc Jacobs - http://www.style.com/

Stella McCartney - www.style.com

Following suit the highstreet and online stores have gone dotty too, covering our casual wear, work wear and evening wear in spots. So no matter what the occasion you'll have rails of choice. But the scary part can be figuring our what will work for your shape. If this print is going to get you noticed then you want it to be for all the right reasons. Here's How To Wear Polka Dots

Hourglass Figures look best in an all over print allowing your entire curvacious body be the centre of attention. The fitted skirt on the below dress will hug your hips, the low neckline compliments your full chest and the sexy sheer sleeves add the finishing touch to this glamorous dress.

Black and green polka dot hour glass dress, €91, Topshop.com

Straight Figures can also wear an all over print so as not to draw attention to any particular area. Select a dress like this one from Doo-Lally which gives the impression of curves. It has a high neckline for the illusion of bigger boobs, elasticated waist and slight volumn at the hips for a feminine shape.

Maisy Poke-a-dot Dress, €39, www.doo-lally.com

Top Heavy Figures need to wear print on their bottom half teamed with a block colour for the top. The fullness of this skirt will balance out your broad shoulders and the short lenght will showcase your slim legs.

Boutique by Jaeger skirt in polka dot flower print, €96.15, www.ASOS.com

Bottom Heavy Figures (Pear Shape) need to do the opposite, wearing print on top and a block colour on bottom. This will draw attention away from your fuller hips and thighs and keep all eyes on your slimmer top half.
Polka pomme spot blouse, €64, Monsoon (from their Fusion line)

Looking for a quick fix solution to splashing some spots into your wardrobe? then try these dotty accessories.

Polka dot clutch, €25, Next

Red Gisella spotty peep toe court, €55, www.awear.com - also come in black with white spots

Flawless Foundation

When selecting a foundation it needs to match your skin tone. This is the first step and the most important. It should always be said - nice skin not nice foundation. You want the effect to look natural.

Step1. Test the foundation on the jaw line, it should disappear into the skin and blend seamlessly between the face and the neck. In the above pic I tested 3 different shades of foundation and you can see for yourself that the one to the right of the dark colour blends perfectly with my skin tone.

Step2. Apply the foundation to the face, it can be applied with a brush, sponge or fingers. Apply with one stroke overlapping the other to produce a smooth even finish. Blend the foundation towards the edges of the jaw line. Do not drag or rub the skin.

Step3. The skin of the eyelids are thin and that’s why you can see veins and redness, you should apply a thin layer of foundation on the eyelids to cover this up. It will also act as a base for your eyeshadow.

Step4. Circle the whole face with a fibre optic brush for a seamless finish. Make small circles with the brush and cover the whole face.

The finished application should always be light, even and perfectly blended. Never apply a thick layer of foundation to cover up skin problems use corrective creams instead.

The Perfect Shirt Dress

A short but (of course) stylish post - I stumbled upon this amazing dress today while searching through Topshop's press portal.

Shirt dresses are a big trend for Autumn/Winter and this has to be the most perfect one, why? because if offers you; a fabulous 70's vibe, vibrant pop of colour, midi length, pretty pleats, long sleeves (love L/S dresses), autumnal hues etc etc... And of course it's flexible for wearing both day and night. Check out these two very different looks - loving them both!!

The dress isn't available online just yet but will retail at €122 http://www.topshop.com/

Vivetta Preview

A couple of weeks ago, accompanied by the very talented photographer Maria McGrail (you can check out her work at http://www.mariamcgrail.com/), I attended an intimate party hosted by Peroni Nastro Azzurro (a premium Italian beer). The highlight of the party was the attendance of Vivi Ponti, an up and coming Italian designer, who flew in to exclusively preview her Spring/Summer 12 collection, VIVETTA (yep 2012.......but as the sun is shining right now it makes for nice viewing, taking a break from Autumn/Winter trends). From August Vivetta will be available by mail order to Ireland on http://www.vivetta.it/.
