Pandora's Interactive Magazine

When I’m not surrounded by clothes or searching through press portals for images, my head is stuck in a magazine....luckily for me, I can even call reading the latest mag work! Last week I was introduced to a new free online magazine by Pandora (the jewellery company). In addition to the benefit of being a free read, it boasts interactive functions allowing us readers to post comments, rate articles and share our favourites with friends.

Now I love the feeling of touching and flicking through a new magazine however, Pandora’s online version brings an added dimension to the reading experience with articles that are supported with video and sound.  Their first issue features a behind the scenes look at the creation of Pandora’s latest campaign, you get to meet the designers, a peek at the latest collection, styling tips from Cristina Ehrlich (stylist of Penelope Cruz and Amy Adams), Mary Quant’s fashion journey, Fashion must have of the season by blogger Susanna Lau of Style Bubble and much much more. Rather than replacing my hands-on reading it will make a welcomed read when I’m in my office looking for inspiration.

The Pandora Online magazine is published 6 times a year in four languages. All you have to do is become a member of Pandora’s customer club - membership and access to the magazine is free.

Pucker Up

This look was seen on the catwalk this spring at Armani PrivĂ© couture collection. So if you want to ooze glamour try this smouldering sexy look on your next night on the town.  Just follow these few simple steps to re-create this funky look.

Essential Tools

Essence Clear and Matt Foundation €3.49

Essence Bronzer shimmer powder €3.49

Essence Eyebrow Styling Set €2.99

Essence Quattro Eyeshadow - To Die for €3.49

Essence Multi Action Mascara €2.99
Catrice’s Ultimate Colour Lipstick - Tell me a berry Tale €4.99

Re-Creating the Look

> Cleanse, tone and moisturise the skin.

> Before applying your foundation use a primer on the skin first.

> Apply Essence’s Clear and Matt foundation to the face match the natural skin tone, apply concealer then where needed and set the base with a translucent powder.

> Essence Bronzer is applied to the cheekbones and blended up towards the temples.

> To enhance the brow use Essence‘s Eyebrow Styling Set. Fill in the eyebrows using a powder shade similar to the colour of the natural eyebrow hairs. This will add definition to the area.

> Apply Essence Quattro Eye shadow  in “To Die For”, using  the creamy colour apply to the lids, followed by the lighter brown colour to socket line and blend well.

> Apply two coats of Essence’s Multi Action Mascara in black to the top and bottom lashes.

> Using Catrice’s Ultimate Colour Lipstick in “Tell me a Berry Tale” apply generously to the whole lip area using a lip brush. Blot with tissue paper then reapply.

> One final fun step - perfect for a night out - apply one blue body gem to the side of your lower lip. Available in Claires Accessories €1.95 for a pack of gems.

Top Tip for lips and lipstick application, getting you ready to make a statement with your lips.

~ Take a toothbrush and brush vaseline or lip balm into them. This will help exfoliate any dead skin, seal in moisture and act as a primer for lipstick.

~ Always use a brush when applying lipstick for a precise look.

~ After outlining your lips with a pencil, use it to colour in your lips, even if you are applying lipstick on top. This allows the colour to wear off uniformly so that you are not left with a hard outline after eating or drinking.

~ To keep lipstick off your teeth apply the colour with a brush and then blot. Put your finger horizontally between your lips and bite down, pulling your finger out to remove any lipstick that could rub off on your teeth.

~ Blot your lipstick with a tissue and then reapply to build up colour and durability.

Penneys Autumn 2011 Preview

The big question still looms - will we / won't we have a Summer? The truth of it is, we simply don't get the weather to wear all the fabulous Summer trends. And as I hate not getting wear from my clothes I find any of my purchases are on items that I can wear now and re-work for Autumn through to Winter. Even though I'm still wishing hard for a heatwave, I can't wait for the highstreets autumn drops (which are starting to land from now through July) because I know these pieces are guaranteed lots and lots of wear.

This morning I took another trip to Dublin - this time to view the new season collections from Penneys. Girls and ladies I was wowed by what I saw and I know everyone else present were blown away also. A mix of 60's and 70's silhouettes and vintage inspired beauties plus a welcomed grown up feel. They have some fantastically fabulous coats and I think outerwear are the pieces that will need to be grabbed as quick as they land instore...even if our Summer has arrived. Oh and the accessories, glorious accessories...I know like me you will want them all. I'm talking box bags, structured satchels, statement wedges, block heels, fur stoles in purple and teel, embellished collar neckpieces and absolutely everything looks not only impressive but expensive too! Right time to let you have your preview - hope you're as impressed as I am (I know you will be) - Enjoy!

A vintage dream...........hard to believe they will have a Penneys price it!!

Stunning accessory colour combinations

Beautiful autumnal berry hues trimmed will glamorous fur

Colour blocking remains a hot trend for another season - thankfully the colours to embrace are from a more muted yet still vibrant palette. Mustard appears yet again - definitely a colour to take note of.

The red wedges are divine!!

River Island Autumn/Winter 2011 Preview

What a fabulous sunny day.....a great excuse to take a break from the office and pay an ever pleasurable visit to River Island's Press Office where their PR contact Emma was launching RI's Autumn/Winter collections for Women, Men and Kiddies. All the strange thoughts of looking at winter woollies on such a warm summers day, were immediately cast aside once I captured sight of the rainbow of colour on each rail. All  my favourite colours; purples, teals and mustards are the predominent hues throughout the collections for both women and men. These are great hues for mixing with your neutrals and work particularly well when mixed together.

Absolutely fallen in love with this dress; delicious colour, amazing corsage detail and it's hard to see in this pic but there's a rust colour lining that shows through with movement.

Coloured jeans in mustard and rust see Spring/Summers trend continue for Autumn/Winter but with a more flattering straight leg cut than this seasons skinnys

Textures (fur, feathers, wool) are key for A/W and what better way to tap into this trend than with accessories

Here come the men................

Layers, layers and more layers

Chunky knits, duffle coats, tweeds and check shirts, everything you need for the great outdoors

Boots are a big seller for RI and I have a feeling this pair will be no different

Here's a quick taster of River Islands childrens wear................

When departing I took with me their press brochure and once I made it back to my office I snapped some of my favourite looks for both Women and Men.

River Island's Autumn/Winter 2011 Collections will begin hitting their stores from mid July.

Littlewoods Ireland Autumn/Winter 2011 Preview

The press previews for Autumn/Winter are underway ladies where journalists, stylists, bloggers etc. get a heads up of what catwalk trends will filter down to our highstreet in the coming months. Last week I attended the A/W Littlewoods Ireland Launch which was held in Studio 54-esque surroundings of Fallon & Byrne. The evening began with an informal wonder around all the stunning mannequin displays and a flick through the rails of clothing. Capes, I noted, were a recurring feature on their outerwear as well as capelet details on plain tees and glamorous gowns.
Love the capelet detail on the maxi gown

1920's style featured heavily in Littlewoods Ireland's new collections

As I sipped proscecco and nibbled on canapes I watched a salon show in the relaxing company of Stylist Courtney Smith. The lovely Cathy O'Connor talked us through each individual look shown on their mini catwalk. Below are a few of my favourite looks.

Check out this delicious favour everyone received on their way home.............

..........a yummie chocolate coated with an icing logo, all that's left is the picture but I did have to share with all the boys in my house. In addition I received a really well put together brochure of their new collections, so here are pics from that also:

Littlewoods Ireland A/W collection will be online from 24th June and the new catalogue will be out at the end of the month
